Welcome to US Armor Online! The tank has been a vehicle that draws the attention of boys and men alike. From models and mock-ups to prototypes and issued vehicles, the tank has a mystical spot within us that brings out the tank commander in even the most non-military person. It is the vehicle that Patton commanded, Tank Girl (Laurie Petty) calls a pet, and the vehicle that the Russians, at one point, had numbers up to 70,000. Made of cast, rolled and composite steels and ceramics the tank of today is the knight of the battlefield ready to protect the foot soldier and the artillery from enemy advances. Tracks allow the tank to traverse some of the roughest terrain in the world while their cannon allow them the ability to take out enemy vehicles sometimes miles away. Their ability to see into the deepest darkest night or the foggiest of days allows them to protect an army in any weather any time day or night. This website will address US armor from post WWI development to the projects of the future. It will cover all major tank designs to include some that can be considered the grandfather of the "American" tank to some that can be included in the "What?" category. In addition, not to leave anyone out, tank destroyers will be included. From the combat car to the super heavy tank and sizes in between, we will walk through the history of the tank from concept to practical application. Then, we will take you on a journey around the world and show you where they are now from museum pieces and town square guards to memorials and combat veterans still in service today
